Will this "cure" my dog?

No; but it will give you tools to get started in changing your dog’s behavior and it will give your dog some new ways of interacting with the triggers that bother him.

Do you recall how long it takes you to change a bad habit? Your dog will need you to give him those same principles of patience, time, understanding and allow for an occasional setback.

This session will:

  • Give you, the owner, a chance to talk about your dog’s behaviors with a person who will listen and understands.
  • Gives you a chance to determine and outline realistic goals to change your dog’s behavior and the steps to get started.
  • Give your dog a chance to meet and interact with me in a training environment
  • Give me a chance to observe your dog, his daily environment, and prepare some steps to start changing behavior.

What is included:

  • The session will run between 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on how comfortable your dog is around strangers
  • A notebook of dog-related information, including guidelines for modifying behavior
  • A high-quality treat pouch
  • A 15’ long line
  • A Freedom No-Pull harness (or comparably-fitted harness based on your dog’s needs)

What we will be sure to cover:

  • Safety – this will always be the Number One Priority for you, your dog, other people, and other animals
  • Management – what tools you need to ensure Safety and to help your dog learn and progress in an environment that helps her feel safe.
  • Behavior Change Plan – this is where you learn and practice the skills needed to help your dog. Your dog learns new ways of responding to triggers that upset him.
  • Training and behavior change consists of:
    • Choosing the correct environment for the training
    • Correctly timed Order of Events with the exercises
    • Appropriate reinforcement for the task at hand
    • Repetition, Repetition, Repetition

What you will learn:

  • How to communicate more effectively with your dog
  • How to reinforce desirable behavior in your dog
  • How to reduce/eliminate undesirable behavior in your dog
  • “First step” exercises and techniques to start changing your dog’s behaviors
